Wilson-t’Hooft Loops in Finite-Temperature Non-commutative Dipole Field Theory from Dual Supergravity
We first study the temporal Wilson loop in the finite-temperature non-commutative dipole field theory from the string/gauge correspondence. The associated dual supergravity background is constructed from the near-horizon geometry of near-extremal D-branes, after applying T-duality and smeared twist. We investigate the string configuration therein and find that while the temperature produces a m...
متن کامل’t Hooft loops and perturbation theory
We show that high-temperature perturbation theory describes extremely well the area law of SU(N) spatial ’t Hooft loops, or equivalently the tension of the interface between different ZN vacua in the deconfined phase. For SU(2), the disagreement between Monte Carlo data and lattice perturbation theory for σ̃(T )/T 2 is less than 2%, down to temperatures O(10) Tc. For SU(N),N > 3, the ratios of i...
متن کاملOn 1/2-BPS Wilson-’t Hooft loops
We investigate the 1/2-BPS Wilson-’t Hooft loops in N = 4 Super-Yang-Mills theory. We use the bulk D-brane with both electric and magnetic charges to calculate the all genus contribution of the circular loops. The expectation value of Wilson-’t Hooft loops are in perfect agreement with the result through supersymmetric condition and duality transformation in the gauge theory.
متن کاملNoncommutative ’t Hooft Instantons
We employ the twistor approach to the construction of U(2) multi-instantons à la ’t Hooft on noncommutative R. The noncommutative deformation of the Corrigan-Fairlie-’t Hooft-Wilczek ansatz is derived. However, naively substituting into it the ’t Hooft-type solution is unsatisfactory because the resulting gauge field fails to be self-dual on a finite-dimensional subspace of the Fock space. We r...
متن کاملSpacelike Wilson Loops at Finite Temperature
In the high temperature phase of Yang-Mills theories, large spatial Wilson loops show area law behaviour with a string tension that grows with increasing temperature. Within the framework of the commonly used string picture we use a large scale expansion, which allows us to determine the string tension from measurements of intermediate and symmetric Wilson loops.
